Lao Government honours former Vietnamese volunteer soldiers

Nhan Dan – Thirteen representatives received honours on behalf of 3,091 former Vietnamese volunteer soldiers and experts who made significant contributions to the Lao People’s Democratic Republic’s revolutionary cause from 1945 to 1975 in a ceremony at the Lao Embassy in Hanoi on December 22.

The representatives accepted the Isala orders, first class; Victory Orders, first class, and Resistance Insignias bestowed upon the soldiers and experts under a decision by Lao State President Choummaly Sayasone.

Speaking at the ceremony, Lao ambassador to Vietnam, Somphone Sichaleune, expressed deep gratitude from the Lao Party, Government and people to the Vietnamese Party, Government and people, particularly the award recipients, for their valuable dedication and great support to the Lao people’s revolution.

He also affirmed that their contributions have nurtured the friendly relationship, special solidarity and comprehensive co-operation between the two Parties, Governments and peoples.
